While some countries restrict immigration, Canada is taking full advantage with new, fast-track immigration pathways (e.g. Global Talent Stream) to encourage more high-skilled immigration, and it’s working: according to government data, Canada welcomed 341,180 in 2019, up from 320,000 the previous year. By the end of 2021, the government hopes to admit over one million immigrants to combat an aging population and labor shortages in key sectors.
