United Kingdom/Switzerland: Recognition of Certain Professional Qualifications

Key Points

  • Switzerland and the UK jointly agreed to recognize specific professional qualifications issued in the other country

Overview

In collaboration with the government of Switzerland, the United Kingdom (UK) signed a new agreement that will recognize professional qualifications in the other country. As a result, UK-qualified professionals in specific sectors, such as architecture and auditing, will not be required to requalify to work in Switzerland and vice versa.

The agreement will enter into force at the start of 2025 and will replace any interim arrangements made with Switzerland. For additional information on recognized professions, check here.

What are the Changes?

The governments of Switzerland and the UK jointly agreed to recognize specific professional qualifications issued in the other country. According to the announcement, this will allow British companies to compete for more contracts in Switzerland in the long run, boosting UK services exports, growing the UK economy, and encouraging Swiss investment in the UK.
