Overview  

The government of the United Kingdom (UK) introduced a new settlement route for nationals of Hong Kong who served in the British military. The route will open in the fall of 2023. Eligible applicants include all servicemen and women who served in the British military prior to 1 July 1997 and family members, including a partner or spouse and dependent children.  

All eligible applicants will be able to apply for indefinite leave to enter, allowing them to live and work in the UK without restriction and putting them on a path to full British citizenship. 

What are the Changes?  

The government of the UK launched a new settlement route for nationals of Hong Kong who served in the British armed forces prior to 1 July 1997. According to the government, these measures will help to create further equality for members of the British armed forces.
