Overview
The government of China announced plans to introduce a new Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card by 1 December 2023. The new card also applies more advanced anti-counterfeiting technology and upgrades the information storage and application management service access.
The Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card is a legal identity document for foreign nationals whose permanent residence applications have been approved.
Previously issued cards will remain valid until their original expiration date, but holders will be eligible to apply for a new card on a case-by-case basis.
