On Monday, July 17, USCIS released a new version of the Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification.
This new version is available now and can be accessed through the USCIS website. Employers can continue to use the older version of the I-9 (revised 11/14/16) until September 17. After this date, the latest revised version of the I-9 must be used.
Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Changes
The new I-9 form features a few revisions, including:
- The Office of Special Counsel for Immigration-Related Unfair Employment Practices was updated to Immigrant and Employee Rights Section
- The phrase, “the end of the first day of employment,” was updated to read “the first day of employment”
- Form FS-240 (Consular Report of Birth Abroad) was added to List C and is available on the drop-down menu in Sections 2 and 3
- All certifications of report of birth, including Form FS-545, Form DS-1350, and Form FS-240, have been combined into selection C #2 in List C
