The H-4 Visa: Overview and Recent Developments

Thursday, January 23, 2020 | 1 PM CT/ 2 PM ET | Duration: 45 min

Envoy Global and Global Immigration Associates Managing Attorney Louis Massard, will cover eligibility criteria and the application process for the H-4 visa, as well as:

  • The H-4 EAD program and how to apply
  • Current proposals to rescind the program
  • What the changes could mean for foreign nationals and employers

The H-4 visa, which allows spouses and dependent children of H-1B visa holders to reside temporarily in the United States, is an important benefit for foreign nationals that makes relocating overseas more attractive. For spouses on H-4 status, it is often even possible to seek work authorization under the H-4 Employment Authorization Documentation (EAD) program. However, recent government proposals have put the status of this program into jeopardy.
