USCIS Permits Some TPS Applicants to File Initial Applications Online

Last Updated on February 23, 2023

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that Temporary Protected Status (TPS) applicants from five countries are permitted to submit their initial TPS applications online.

Overview

Individuals from Myanmar (Burma), Syria, Somalia, Venezuela and Yemen may now file Form I-821, Application for Temporary Protected Status online, along with Form I-765, Request for Employment Authorization.

Looking Ahead

USCIS plans to eventually extend online filing to all first-time and renewal TPS applicants in the future. However, the agency also notes that only the five countries listed above will be able to file electronically for now. USCIS will not accept online applications from applicants from any other country.
