U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has closed its Biometrics Processing Unit (BPU) in Alexandria, VA. Biometrics appointments may be rescheduled by calling the USCIS Contact Center.
Overview
Due to the closure of its BPU facility in Alexandria, VA, USCIS has also changed its procedures for rescheduling biometrics appointments. Biometrics appointments may now only be rescheduled by calling the USCIS Contact Center. The agency will no longer accept appointment change requests in writing. Individuals who need to reschedule their biometrics appointments must call the USCIS Contact Center before the date and time of their originally scheduled appointment.
Looking Ahead
USCIS may deny requests to reschedule an appointment for applicants who do not call before their original appointment time or who fail to establish a good cause for rescheduling. USCIS will also consider the individual’s related application or petition abandoned.
