Welcome to the U.S. immigration news from Corporate Immigration Partners, PC (CIP PC). The team is here to provide the latest updates on policy changes affecting corporate immigration. This update explores the insights from the 2025 fiscal year H-1B cap.

H-1B Fiscal Year 2025 Cap Reached

On December 2, 2024, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) officially reached the H-1B visa cap for fiscal year (FY) 2025. This includes both the regular cap of 65,000 visas and the 20,000 visas reserved for individuals holding advanced degrees from U.S. institutions, commonly referred to as the master’s cap 468.

During the registration period, USCIS received approximately 442,000 registrations for unique beneficiaries. In the initial lottery, 114,017 beneficiaries were selected, which accounted for the master’s cap. However, an additional selection was necessary to meet the regular cap, leading to a second lottery where 13,607 more beneficiaries were chosen.

Employers who submitted registrations but were not selected will receive non-selection notices in the coming days. Notice will come through their online myUSCIS accounts.
