Thailand: New Post-Graduate Visa Category

Key Points

  • Thailand introduced a new one-year visa extension for recent foreign national graduates holding a bachelor’s degree or higher

Overview

As of 15 July 2024, the government of Thailand will allow foreign national students studying for a bachelor’s degree or higher to extend their stay in the country up to one year after graduation. The visa, known as the non-Ed plus visa, will grant eligible students additional time to find employment, travel, engage in other activities, or apply for a new visa once employed. Universities or academic institutions can file a one-year extension on behalf of the students.

Additionally, foreign students can depart and re-enter Thailand without a re-entry permit. The government aims to provide more flexibility for students to find employment during their studies or travel around Thailand, encouraging them to stay after graduation.
