Key Points
- Taiwan introduced changes to its alien residence card application requirements for foreign nationals born in mainland China
Overview
The authorities of Taiwan will now require that foreign nationals born in mainland China submit additional supporting documents when applying for an alien residence card or alien permanent residence card. These documents include proof that they do not hold a household registration in China or a Chinese passport.
Taiwan will now allow foreign nationals to submit residency renewal applications three months before the expiration of their current pass. Previously, applications could only be made 30 days before expiration.
