South Africa: ZEP to General Work Visa

Last Updated on August 26, 2024

Key Points

  • South Africa will no longer require recommendation letters or proof of qualifications for ZEP holders transferring to a General Work Visa

Overview

The government of South Africa has announced that Zimbabwe Exemption Permit (ZEP) holders applying for a General Work Visa (GWV) no longer need to provide a recommendation letter (or ‘labour certificate’) or proof of qualifications evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority.

Previously, these requirements could delay the application process by up to 28 weeks. This change aims to streamline the GWV application process for ZEP holders and reduce visa backlogs.
