Overview
The government of South Africa introduced extensions for waivers and visa renewal applications for all long-term visa types as a result of processing backlogs. These measures will apply under the following circumstances:
- Long-term visa holders (Work, business, study, relative and accompanying spouse) who have previously submitted a visa waiver application that is still pending as of 31 March 2023, or a visa renewal application will be granted an extension of stay until 31 December 2023.
- Applicants who no longer wish to obtain a waiver application must undergo South African exit procedures and exit the country before 31 December 2023.
- Short-term visa holders whose visa validity was issued less than 90 days ago and that have not received a visa extension outcome as of 31 March 2023 are required to depart the country on or before 30 April 2023.
