South Africa: Digital Nomad Visa and Point-Based System

  • South Africa re-published its official Gazette outlining its point-based system for general work visas and the country’s new digital nomad visa  

Overview  

The government of South Africa published updated information on changes to its immigration system. This includes updates to its digital nomad visa category to be open to freelance applicants.  

The government also added a point-based system to its general work visa category. The point-based system will be determined based on the following criteria: 

  • Age, qualifications, language skills, work experience, offer of employment, salary and other factors.
