Key Points

  • Serbia will no longer permit Indian nationals to enter the country visa-free

Overview

The government of Serbia announced that all Indian nationals entering the country are required to hold a visa as of 1 January 2023. The government has removed India from its list of visa-exempt countries.

Indian nationals intending to visit Serbia are advised to apply for a visa at the Embassy of Serbia in New Delhi or in the country of their residence.

The government noted that Indian passport holders with a valid visa or residence permit issued for the Schengen Area, the United Kingdom or the United States are permitted to enter Serbia visa-free for a maximum period of 90 days during any six-month period, so long as the residence permit or visa remains valid throughout the intended period of stay.

What are the Changes?

The government of Serbia removed visa exemptions for Indian nationals traveling to the country on a short-term basis. Indian nationals will now be required to apply for a visa prior to departure for Serbia. Previously, Indian nationals were permitted to enter Serbia without a visa for a maximum period of 30 days so long as they held a valid Indian passport.
