Oman: Temporary Suspension of Select Work Permits

  • Oman has suspended the issuance of work permits to certain sectors temporarily  

Overview  

On 1 September 2024, the government of Oman temporarily suspended its issuance of work visas for foreign nationals in certain private-sector professions. The suspension will remain in place for six months.  

Impacted professions include:  

  • Construction workers 
  • Bricklayers 
  • Cleaners 
  • Tailors  
  • Electricians  
  • Chef 
  • Waiters  
  • Painters  
  • Barbers  

Foreign nationals working in these sectors with valid work visas can renew or transfer requests during this time.
