Oman: New Foreign National to Local Employee Requirements

Overview  

The government of Oman will require all foreign-owned companies to employ at least one Omani national within one year of operation as of 1 April 2024.  

Employers must also register this employee with the Social Protection Fund. Companies failing to hire an Omani within the deadline will have a 30-day grace period. The grace period can be extended once. Penalties may include restrictions on certain transactions on the Oman Business Platform.
