New Zealand: Updated Minimum Wage Beginning April 2023

  • New Zealand minimum wage to increase to NZ 22.70 per hour, with training and starting-out minimum wages also rising to NZ 18.16 per hour  

Overview  

The government of New Zealand will increase the country’s minimum wage to NZ 22.70 per hour on 1 April 2023. The training and starting-out minimum wages will also both increase to NZ 18.16 per hour, remaining at 80% of the adult minimum wage. This is a rise from the current minimum rate of NZ 16.96 per hour. 

What are the Changes?  

The government of New Zealand will increase the country’s minimum wage on 1 April 2023. According to the government, this is an increase of NZ 1.50 per hour.
