New Zealand: New Minimum for Specific Occupations under the AEWV

Overview  

The government of New Zealand will introduce a new minimum hourly wage for certain tourism and hospitality roles under the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) scheme. The new wage will go into effect on 24 April 2023. As a result, employees in occupations listed under certain Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations must be paid at least $28.18.  

What are the Changes?  

Beginning on 24 April 2023, New Zealand will implement a new minimum hourly wage. the wage change will apply to specific roles in tourism and hospitality under the AEWV program. According to the government, these changes are a result of the gradual recovery of the tourism and hospitality industry and the opening of borders.
