Israel: Immigration Permission Updates and Passport Delivery Process

Key Points

  • Israel introduced extensions to certain immigration permissions due to expire and updated its process for delivering passports to Israeli citizens

Overview

The government of Israel extended the validity for certain immigration permissions by an additional six months for documents set to expire on 30 September 2023. These documents include:

  • A1 (eligible under the right of return)
  • (A2) Students/trainees/interns
  • (A3) Clergy
  • A4 (companion to a3 a2)
  • (A5) Temporary resident
  • (B1) Working visa
  • Permits for temporary stay in Israel for Palestinians (for family reunion and humanitarian reasons)

As a result, holders of these permissions that expire prior to 30 September 2023 will automatically be extended by an additional six months.

The government also updated its process for delivering passports. As a result, passports will be delivered by HFD distribution company centers throughout the country instead of post offices.

In addition, HFD will issue notice upon submitting the application for a passport at the PIBA offices. Citizens will receive an SMS message when the application is received, and a message will be sent from the distribution company with the details of the closest distribution point.
