Iceland: Suspension of Embassy Operations in Moscow

Overview  

The government of Iceland suspended embassy operations in Moscow, Russia on 1 August 2023. The embassy of Iceland also represented the countries of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, which will result in all consular operations of these countries being suspended in Moscow as well.  

The government stated that operations in Russia will resume once conditions permit. Iceland will also prioritize the resumption of operations of the embassy when possible. 

Iceland had originally suspended operation in June 2023 due to current security concerns.

What are the Changes?  

The embassy of Iceland suspended operations of its embassy office in Moscow, Russia. The embassy office was also used by officials of several countries, which resulted in the suspension of operations of these offices.
