France: Online Application System

Key Points  

  • France introduced a new online filing system for certain visa category types on 1 July 2024  

Overview  

The government of France will move to an online filing system for individuals submitting extensions to 10-year permits beginning 1 July 2024. After this date, the only applications that can be submitted in-person include:  

  • Salarié (Employee) 
  • Salarié détaché-ICT (ICT Detachment) 
  • Entrepreneurs 
  • Partners PACSed with a French citizen (a PACS is a French formal civil partnership) 

Applications that can be submitted online include:  

  • The 10-year resident card with the words “long-term resident-EU”  
  • The 10-year resident card for foreign nationals who meet the conditions for obtaining French nationality    
  • The 10-year residence permit for family reasons (family reunification, foreign national married to a French national, etc.)  
  • The 10-year residence certificate for Algerian nationals  
  • The 10-year resident card provided with bilateral agreements between France and Morocco, Tunisia, Burkina Faso, Benin, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Togo.
