Key Points
- Denmark will no longer accept salary declarations made in foreign currencies effective 1 September 2024
Overview
Beginning 1 September 2024, the government of Denmark will no longer accept salary declarations made in foreign currencies. Instead, the government will only accept applications submitted in Danish kroner (DKK). If the employment contract contains a foreign currency, an addendum must be added to the contract with the salary in Danish kroner (DKK).
For applications for an extension of a residence and work permit where the original permit was granted before 1 September 2024, a salary stated in a foreign currency will be accepted. The foreign currency will be converted into Danish kroner (DKK). The decision regarding the application for an extension will be based on the exchange rate.
Salary declarations are part of the residence and work permit process and apply to first-time and extension applications.
