Cayman Islands: New Application Requirements for Temporary Work Permits

Last Updated on February 26, 2023

Key Points

  • The Cayman Islands introduced new TWP application requirements to align with full work permit application process

Overview

The government of the Cayman Islands will require employers to advertise a temporary job vacancy through the WORC JobsCayman portal prior to submitting a temporary work permit (TWP) application beginning 31 March 2023. As a result, all local job vacancies (full-time and part-time) will need to be advertised for a period of 14 days.

Employers who receive a job application from a local employee who does not meet the qualification requirements for the position must submit the rejected applicant's name, qualifications, working experience and background, along with the reasons the chosen applicant was hired over the local candidate.

These measures will not apply to TWP’s being granted for a period of 30 days or less, particularly for persons traveling for short-term work assignments.

What are the Changes?

The government of the Cayman Islands introduced new TWP application requirements. These measures were made to better align the TWP application process with the full work permit application process.
