The Canadian government introduced special measures for people who have been impacted by the floods in Canada and require replacement documents or to extend or restore their status in Canada. The government will issue free replacement documents for Canadians, permanent residents and temporary residents in Nova Scotia who have been directly affected by the floods.
International students, temporary foreign workers and other visitors who have been directly affected by the flooding in Nova Scotia and whose status will expire by 30 November 2023 will also be eligible to apply to restore or extend their status in Canada free of charge. In addition, international students can extend their study permits if their classes are delayed or canceled and finish their studies without penalty.
What are the Changes?
The government of Canada will issue replacement documents for individuals affected by the floods in Nova Scotia, Canada.
These include permanent resident cards, proof of citizenship, Canadian citizenship certificates, Canadian passports and other travel documents that are lost, damaged, destroyed or inaccessible due to this natural disaster.
