Overview  

The government of Ontario, Canada, plans to double its immigration numbers by 2025 under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).  At the same time, the government will invest an additional $25 million over the next three years towards the program. The funding will be dedicated to enhancing security and IT measures under the OINP’s system. The government intends to nominate over 16,500 foreign national workers for 2023. 

What are the Changes?  

According to the government, this increase will help to address labor shortages throughout Ontario. The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program allows the province to nominate individuals for permanent residence who have the skills and experience to contribute to Ontario’s economy in industries like skilled trades and health care.
