Canada: Expansion of Eligibility Under the OINP

Key Points

  • Canada expanded eligibility for international students applying under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program

Overview

The government of Canada introduced changes to the Employer Job Offer: International Student stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) on 2 January 2024. As a result, international students who have completed one year of a college graduate certificate can apply under the stream.

Previously, this stream was only open to applicants who completed one year of credentials from an eligible institution if the program required completing a degree as an admission requirement. According to the government, this amendment increases the number of certificate programs eligible for the OINP.
