The government of Canada will remove education requirements for individuals applying under the Canadian work experience stream (stream B) of the Hong Kong permanent residence pathway beginning 15 August 2023. As a result, Hong Kong nationals holding work experience in Canada will be eligible to apply for permanent residence status without having to hold proof of specific education.
What are the Changes?
The Canadian government will remove education requirements for Hong Kong nationals applying under the stream B permanent residence pathway effective 15 August 2023. According to the government announcement, these measures will allow the country to better attract foreign nationals interested in working and living in Canada. The removal of education requirements goes alongside Canada’s recent efforts to expand its open work permit pathways for Hong Kong nationals.
