Australia: Skilled Regional Visa Update

  • The regional government of New South Wales (Australia) introduced new conditions for workers under the Skilled Regional visa  


The New South Wales (NSW) government introduced new criteria under its Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491) Pathway 1. These changes include the following:  

  • Applicants under Pathway 1 will now be eligible for a visa with a shorter work period. As a result, the employer-based visa can now be offered for six months or 12 months.  

Pathway 1 allows applicants to apply directly to Investment NSW if they have an established work history with a regional NSW-based employer. In contrast, Pathway 2 involves being invited to apply by Investment NSW.
