Overview
The government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced that its citizens will be permitted access to visa-free travel to the United Kingdom (UK) through the UK’s Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system. This will remove visa restrictions on UAE passport holders who seek to enter the UK beginning in 2023.
What are the Changes?
Currently, UAE nationals are permitted to complete an Electronic Visa Waiver (EVW) application when visiting the UK. An EVW allows foreign nationals to enter the UK with an online waiver, rather than requiring a physical visa. Beginning in 2023, UAE citizens will be permitted to apply for visa-free travel approval through the ETA system. Under the ETA system, approved applicants are granted single-entry travel authorization to enter the UK for a maximum stay of six months.
