U.S. Top Court Allows Trump’s Latest Travel Ban Into Full Effect

December 4, 2017 Britni Sehgal

On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court let President Donald Trump’s latest travel ban take full effect even as legal challenges continue in lower courts. Trump will now be able to bar or restrict entry by people from Syria, Libya, Iran, Yemen, Chad, Somalia, North Korea and Venezuela, even if they have a relationship with a U.S.-based person or institution.

According to Reuters, “The court, with two of the nine justices dissenting, granted his administration’s request to lift two injunctions imposed by lower courts that had partially blocked the ban, which is the third version of a contentious policy that Trump first sought to implement a week after taking office in January.”

If you are from one of the affected countries and in the United States our Envoy-affiliated law firm, GIA, does not recommend that you travel outside of the U.S. at this point in time.

If you are a client of Envoy, you can easily pull a report of your employees to determine who may be impacted by the travel ban within the platform. First, navigate to the “Company Dashboard” and click on “Immigration Population” to view the report.

Once you’ve navigated to the “Immigration Report” section, scroll down to the “Country of Citizenship” to view relevant employee information. You can easily click on countries to filter the list of employees which will be populated on the left.

If you have any additional questions about reporting within the platform, please reach out to your Customer Relationship Manager or post your question to the Communication Center.

We will continue to keep you apprised of any updates.
