What are the Changes?

The national minimum wage in Slovakia has increased 7.4% from its previous level of EUR 520 in 2020.

Who is Affected?

Affected categories include Single Permit for local hire applicants and EU nationals.

EU ICT Permit applicants are not subject to minimum salary levels. EU Blue Card applicants are subject to a different minimum salary, which is 1.5 times the industry average.

What Should Employers and Applicants Know?

The new minimum wage level requirements apply to new, pending, and current permit holders.

Benefits and allowances cannot be included in the new minimum salary calculations.

Foreign nationals must have sufficient financial support during their stay in Slovakia. They must have sufficient funds available that are no less than the minimum living allowance each month. The threshold varies depending on the number of dependents accompanying the foreign employee in Slovakia.
