The Greek government has issued new guidance for UK nationals following the Brexit transition.
What are the Changes?
UK nationals must apply for a new residency permit by June 30, 2021. Individuals can prove their residency rights before December 31, 2020 by showing proof of their EU residence registration, a lease agreement, or pay stubs. Individuals can show their residency status with their EU residence registration and proof of application filing when available.
UK nationals who have been residents of Greece for at least five years can apply for a 10-year residence permit. Non-EU family members of UK nationals with at least five years’ residency as of December 31, 2020 can apply for a corresponding 10-year residence permit at the Migration office through June 30, 2021.
What Should Employers and Applicants Know?
Applicants must submit biometrics to receive their new biometric residence permit. Appointments must be scheduled in advance at the local police station. Applicants must appear in person.
An application fee of EUR 16 applies for UK nationals and their family members.
