Welcome to the U.S. immigration news briefing from Corporate Immigration Partners, PC (CIP PC). The team is here to provide the latest updates on policy changes affecting corporate immigration. On February 1, 2024, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem terminated Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for individuals from Venezuela who received protection in 2023.
Temporary Protection Status for Venezuelans Explained
The decision was based on the determination that Venezuela no longer meets the conditions for the 2023 designation and that it is not in the national interest of the U.S. for these individuals to remain temporarily in the country.
As a result, the 2023 TPS designation for Venezuela will expire 60 days after its publication in the Federal Register, expected on February 5, 2025. Consequently, the program is anticipated to expire on April 2, 2025.
Validity of TPS for Venezuelans
The Venezuela TPS designation issued in 2021 remains valid until it expires on September 10, 2025. We expect an update by July 12, 2025.
