USCIS Publishes Data on H-1B Petitioners

Last Updated on February 23, 2023

United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) recently published a series of datasets listing every U.S. employer that has been approved for H-1B petitions within the past two years and how many petitions were awarded to these H-1B petitioners. Most of this information is already public record, but as of July 28, 2017, USCIS has compiled this corporate information into a single, accessible online location.

As part of the Buy American, Hire American executive order, signed by President Trump on April 18, 2017, these new H-1B datasets are intended to provide more transparency for workers into corporate immigration.

The available datasets include information on characteristics of H-1B workers awarded petitions in 2016, H-1B trends in 2017, and approved H-1B visa petitions in 2015 and 2016, listed by employer. The employer lists detail the companies’ names, the last four digits of their tax ID, the total number of approved petitions, the average salary of approved visa petitions and the degree and education level of the beneficiaries.

More details on the Buy American, Hire American initiatives and links to the corporate H-1B datasets are available on the USCIS website.
