USCIS Announces 199,000 Petitions filed for FY 2018 H-1B Cap season.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that they reached the cap as of April 7, 2017. And on April 17, 2017, they announced that they received a total of 199,000 H-1B petitions for the FY 2018. On April 11 they completed the lottery to select enough petitions to issue the 65,000 general cap and 20,000 advanced degree exemption cap.
The USCIS will reject and return all unselected petitions with filing fees.
*Note to Envoy Customers:
Envoy Customer Support will alert customers via email as soon as the filing fee check has been deposited, indicating that their petition has been accepted into this year’s lottery. In addition, the law firm, G.I.A., will post to the employee’s Envoy account once a Receipt Notice is received.
In the event that a petition is not selected in the lottery, USCIS will return the application packet to G.I.A., and they will inform you by posting to the communication center of your Envoy account.
