17 Global Talent Stream (GTS) What is it? Makes it easier for Canadian businesses to attract the talent they need when a labor market test is needed How it works Eligibility The employer applies for an LMIA under GTS and if approved, receives a decision in 2 weeks which then allows the FN to apply for a work permit under the Global Skills Strategy and receive the work permit in 2 weeks. Category A - referred by one of the Stream's designated partners, if hiring unique and specialized talent, or Category B - highly-skilled foreign workers to fill positions in occupations found on the Global Talent Occupations List (mostly IT) Mandatory Labour Market Benefits Plan (LMBP) – employer will work with ESDC program officer to develop a robust LMBP to have lasting, positive impacts on the Canadian labour market *Annual progress reviews as per LMBP, compliance / audit / site inspection
