Belgium: E and E + Cards Changed to EU and EU + Cards

Key Points

  • E cards that were issued before May 10, 2021 are being replaced with an EU card.  
  • The title and the layout of the cards have been changed.

Overview 

As Belgium looks to modernize their residence permits they have changed the E and E+ cards to EU and EU+ cards with new regulations.  

Biometric processing is now required for the EU and EU+ cards. 

Looking Ahead

The new changes are part of the effort to reduce fraud and abuse of the residence permits in Belgium.
